(Sorry for the grainy pictures. I did something (read, no idea what) to my camera, and now it is all...weird.)

One thing I promised myself I would do in the new year is be true to myself, and the way it reflects in my style. By that I mean wearing whatever I want to wear, not letting it be dictated by others, and most importantly, taking chances that feel right to me. I think this outfit is a prime example of that.

There were a number of firsts going on, the biggest one being color before spring. It wasn't until after I got home did I realize that I was wearing Pantone's color of the year: Tangerine Tango. I never thought I would be one for orange, but I think the key for me is to wear it in small doses, as an accent.

Other firsts in this outfit including wearing gold, which I don't do often, and not wearing my beloved Dior's. One thing that prompted me to go the gold route were these solid gold stud earrings I found amongst my mothers things (I forget what I was really looking for.) I remember when she used to wear them when I was younger, and since she hasn't worn them in forever, I asked if I could have them. Of course she said yes, because deep down, we both know if she said no, I would have taken them anyway :).

How do you hope to develop or evolve your style this year if at all?

Have a great first weekend of the new year!!!

  2. I probably sound like a broken record right about now, but I swear we are on the same page! For me, my orange obsession started with one of the nail polishes from the Iris Apfel for MAC collection. I started wearing it and couldn't get enough. A mere 2 weeks later I have 3 dresses, a cardigan and even a lipstick in the shade! (Although, I'm not quite sure I'm brave enough to wear the lipstick yet...)

Anyways, I love what you wrote about not letting anyone else's opinion dictate your style. It's so true and sometimes I don't even realize that I'm being influenced.  I love love love the drapey top with the boots and that purse! That was the one you brought to lunch? Right? Yes, I'm pretty positive :) :)

  3. I think the tangerine would be overkill, at least at first, to have as a major part of an outfit. I love your accents of it!
